What cleaning and disinfection practices apply to poultry farms ?

Cleaning and disinfection of the buildings are decisive steps in controlling infectious diseases.

Performed regularly, they contribute to reducing animal infection by bacteria, viruses and moulds found in their environment.

Some of these microbes are pathogenic. Bacteria and viruses have strong resistance which is increased for certain germs when they are protected by biofilm. This constant threat must be controlled.

To be effective, the cleaning and disinfection operations include several steps :
- soaking,
- washing - scrubbing (ceiling, walls, floors),
- detergent + rinsing,
- disinfection,
- depopulation period,
- terminal disinfection.
